Hello! My name is Jizel Encarnacion and I’m a UX/UI Designer with a background in animation/illustration and hospitality based in San Jose, CA.
As a Bay Area native raised in an immigrant household, I’ve had the privilege of living amongst people from all walks of life. I take pride in my familiarity with the diverse cultures present in this region. My environment has allowed me to nurture my need for creativity and sense of community throughout my time in school. In regards to design, I enjoy the entire process of starting with only an idea and bringing it to life as a final product. My academic experience has sharpened my eye for design and challenged my way of thinking.
I’ve also developed my skills in the workplace from my customer service experience in the retail world, working as a server at a restaurant, and even as a leasing associate in property management! I believe there should be a balance of both hard and soft skills. I can offer someone a house to live in, but only after listening to them describe their dream home and ensuring we have the right fit. Human understanding is just as important as structure and organization.
As much as I love to hustle and tinker, I also find productivity in slowing down. When I’m not designing, I’m finding inspiration in everything around me. I am driven by my loved ones and my pups! I enjoy the simplicity of Sunday mornings and I have an appreciation for the mundane. There is no better teacher than life and prioritizing the human need for connection.
I am extremely excited to share my artistic skills and my affinity for human understanding into the field of UX/UI Design. I believe there is so much to learn! User research and design solutions should not only fix a problem, but do so with accessibility and inclusivity in mind. I strive to utilize my experiences in order to bring a Jizelified perspective into the industry.
